Areas of Specialty: Applying Fletcher Color System for Traditional Realism.
Dot Bunn strives to communicate the daily beauty and emotional impact of her life experience through traditional realism in oil painting. She is a studio painter working and teaching out of Red Stone Farm Studio, Bucks County, Pa. Her commitment is to the lessons of composition and color control learned during her years studying with Myron Barnstone. Dot is a signature member of Oil Painters of America, and her work is exhibited nationally. She is also an elected member of Allied Artists of America.
“For the artist who truly loves color and its deep expressive power, intelligent control of color is imperative to achieve harmony and consistency in result,” Dot says. “The Fletcher System is a teaching method that prepares the artist to use color for their own poetic interpretation. I have taught many struggling artists to raise their awareness of how color works through this system. It is then their job to adapt these skills to express their personal artistic vision. “
Dot has been teaching oil painting from her Red Stone Farm Studio in Bucks County, Pa. for over 10 years. She has also taught many painting workshops for art leagues in her area.
“I do not encourage an intuitive approach to painting,” Dot says. “I teach traditional methods as a means to mastering the skill of oil painting. After that, students can find their own voice through an informed intuition.”
